Mains Filtration

When you consider that the output signal from an electrical component can only be as noise free as the supply from the mains, the purpose of a mains filter or an isolation transformer will become obvious. High frequency noise from the mains always reappears at the output of any unit and is easily measured. A 50 or 60 Hz mains frequency generally causes up to 10 % distortion. On the other hand CD players, A/D converters and DAT recorders return digital noise to the mains.

Therefore:

1. Decouple components from the mains with a mains filter,

2. Decouple components from each other.

The effect of a mains filter is not only audible. It is visible on a computer monitor or on a TV screen. With a mains filter the display will appear more stable. Contrast and color saturation will increase.

Module 360 / 3

Filter

Plug-in housing with mains socket. Also decouples units with low power consumption, but can also be used for small power amplifiers. This unit cannot be compared to commercial filters. It has a third order filter that operates up to 360 VA. Like the unit above, it uses MP capacitors and toroid chokes, and is protected from high voltage. Finished and tested:

Noise filtering transformer to decouple individual units. Although the effect of its predecessor was impressive, we have optimized this unit to the limits of feasibility. It has two special transformers and high-quality filter caps (MKT, MKP and even KP 1832's). Although it has relatively high power dissipation, its performance is the best we've heard with an airy and detailed sound and enhanced sound stage and dynamic range. As low as 5KHz, this unit dampens noise components by 70 dB! It is ideal for low power consumers (30 VA) and especially suited for CD players, A/D converters and preamplifiers.

Tube CD-Filter

CD Filter

Are you dissatisfied with your CD player in comparison to a record player? Does the CD player sound hard at high frequencies, and do you miss spatial depth? If so, there is a reason:

Along with the music, the output signal from a CD player usually contains high frequency garbage from the digital section in the amplifier. Even with over-sized output filters high frequency components do find their way to the output: high frequency energy is radiated and received by other components and the traces on the PC board. This high frequency noise modulates the music signal while differential signals in the audible range suppress spatial information and detail.

To counteract these effects, we have developed a tube-based filter that dampens noise above 40KHz. This filter works above the audible range to dampen undesired noise components for a "roomier" and more brilliant sound with enhanced highs.

This filter is highly recommended for all Japanese CD players such as Sony, Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, etc. and those of British origin such as Rotel and Mission as well as most D/A converters.
